Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026CipherForge does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
Everything stays on your device:
- Message history is stored locally using iOS device storage only
- Custom cipher modes are saved locally on your device
- No account or sign-in is required
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs are used
- No network requests are made — the app works fully offline
- No data is shared with third parties, ever
CipherForge uses Apple's UserDefaults API solely to persist your message history and custom cipher modes between app launches. This data never leaves your device.
Camera Usage
CipherForge requests access to your camera only when you choose to scan a QR code to import a cipher mode shared by a friend. The camera is used in real time to read the QR code only — no images, video, or any visual data are stored, transmitted, or shared in any way. You can always choose to enter the share code manually instead.
Children's Privacy
CipherForge is designed to be fun and safe for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it is inherently safe for children to use.
If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about your child's use of this app, please contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Since the app collects no data, any future changes are unlikely to affect your privacy.

Support
Having trouble with CipherForge? Here are some common questions:
- How do I share a cipher mode? — Tap SHARE from the main screen to get a QR code or a text share code. Your friend taps IMPORT and scans the QR code or types in the code.
- How do I create a custom cipher? — Tap the mode selector at the top, then tap CREATE CUSTOM at the bottom to chain together multiple ciphers.
- How do I use The Forge? — Tap THE FORGE to create your own personal code where each letter A–Z maps to your own secret word or symbol.
- How do I decrypt a message? — Paste the encrypted message in the input box and tap DECRYPT.
- The QR scanner isn't working — Make sure you've granted camera permission in Settings > CipherForge > Camera. You can also enter the share code manually.
- My imported mode isn't working — Make sure both you and your friend are using the exact same share code and have selected the same mode.
